Community Outreach Support Worker

Location: Bognor Regis and surrounding areas (Littlehampton, Worthing and Chichester) with office base in Littlehampton

Hours of Work: Full-Time - 37 hours per week, which will require at least one sleep in.

Salary:  £11.44 as of April 2024
All work related Mileage will be paid - 45p per mile

About the Role:

At Aspens we work across Bognor Regis and surrounding areas ; supporting individuals with autistic spectrum conditions, learning disabilities and physical disabilities.

We are looking for Support workers to join our team to cover Outreach Support to Adults with Autism and Learning Disabilities.

As part of our Outreach Service we also provide 24/7 support to two people living in their own home in Bognor. This means that several shifts are available across each day/ week. We have day shifts, afternoons and evenings as well as sleep in shifts. Sleep in shifts also include a morning shift until 9am.

We are looking to build their team of Support Workers who also support other Service Users in the area.

Driving license essential, all work related mileage paid at 45p

Our shifts can include:

  • Weekdays various from 9am-6pm across a range of Service Users.
  • Evenings from 3.00- 6.15pm and/or 6pm - 10pm this will include a sleep in
  • Sleep in shifts 10pm-9am
  • Weekends: Sun 10am-4.45pm 2 required per month
  • Weekends 4.30pm- 10pm plus a sleep in
  • As well as some shorter sessions with People we support as and when required,

About You:

  • As a support worker at Aspens you will have enthusiasm and a positive attitude towards supporting people with Autism, learning disabilities, physical disabilities and mental health conditions to lead independent and fulfilling lives.
  • You do not need to have had previous experience in these areas, but we do ask that you are a compassionate, caring and friendly person who is willing to learn and take advantage of the full training, support and career opportunities we offer.
  • You will have good communication skills, including listening skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the people we support using a variety of different methods as required.
  • You will be willing to support individuals in whatever activities they choose to do, be it within the community or within the home, making it an enriching and fun activity, supporting individuals to make their own choices, learn new skills to be as independent as possible and to achieve their ambitions as set out in their care and Support plan.
  • You will be willing to perform domestic duties and support individuals to be independent in tasks such as preparing ingredients and cooking healthy meals.
  • If personal care is required it will be in a sensitive manner, and provide emotional and behavioural support when needed.
  • You will provide emotional and wellbeing support if needed, alongside Positive behaviour support (Full training supplied)
  • It is desirable that you are as flexible as possible as we are looking for team members who can cover a mixture or early and late shifts (including at weekends) as well as sleep in shifts. We are open to discussion to fit in with your availability, however all support is driven by the People we Support and their needs

Interview process:
We will work with you to ensure most suitable dates/times for interview.
