Recruitment Team, Sussex House, Battle, East Sussex TN33 0AE

About the Role:

We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and energetic person to lead a dedicated team of support staff, providing Positive Behaviour Support for a man and a woman with learning disabilities. This role is ideal for anyone who wants to develop or further their career in supporting those with learning disabilities, managing behaviours and leading a team.

As part of the team at Birch (along with other general duties, such as supporting with personal care and helping to prepare meals) you will also take part in activities such as going for drives, going shopping, going swimming, playing football or visiting the animals on our site in Pembury!

Both of those we support at Birch are incredibly active and always busy, however due to their learning disabilities they also can struggle with being able to communicate their emotions, which can lead to particular behaviours of concern. This is where your specialist support will be incredibly valued.

As Senior PBS Support Worker, you will also support the service manager by leading shifts, acting as a go to for any shift queries from the staff team and carrying out all typical senior responsibilities such as medication administration, care plan reviews and shift report writing.

About You:

As part of this team you would be:

  • Able to work with the PBS team to create and follow behavioural management strategies
  • Able to source and establish an activity planner.
  • Experienced in de-escalating difficult situations in a calm, positive and proactive way
  • Physically fit
  • Not be afraid to try new things
  • Be resilient
  • Able to teach new skills

As a member of our team, you should have:

  • Experience of working with people with a learning disability and/or Autism
  • Experience of working with people who may display behaviours of concern
  • A willingness to learn new skills and receive feedback through regular observations and coaching sessions from our PBS Specialist team
  • A willingness to complete PBS qualifications – this requires at least L2 English and Maths
  • Ideally have a driving licence and be able to drive a company vehicle.
