Recruitment Team, Sussex House, Battle, East Sussex TN33 0AE

About the Role:

At Aspens we work across Kent and Sussex; supporting individuals with autistic spectrum conditions, learning disabilities and physical disabilities.

Cornford Lane is an Idyllic site in rural Pembury, home to adults of all ages with autism spectrum conditions, learning disabilities and other complex support needs. We are currently looking for experienced, passionate people to join and help lead our dedicated support teams at one of our 8 residential homes on site!

Our homes are full of energy and we work hard to empower those we support to learn new skills to help them live life independently. This means that every day we are busy doing many fun activities at home, elsewhere on site and out in the community. These might include:

  • Baking and cooking
  • Doing puzzles at home
  • Attending arts and crafts or sports sessions at our day opportunities centre
  • Gardening or tending to our animals with the horticulture team
  • Going swimming or horse riding out in the community
  • Or any other activities that those we support are interested in.

As their senior support worker, you will work within a team or on a 1-1 basis to support those living in our homes to engage in these activities to offer them an enriching and enjoyable day.

At times you will care for those with complex support needs who can often display behaviours that some may find challenging. It is important, therefore, that you are confident and familiar with managing behaviours of concern and understand and are passionate about using positive person-centred approaches to reduce these behaviours and enhance quality of life.

You'll also support the management team by leading shifts, acting as a go to for any shift queries from the staff team and carrying out all typical senior responsibilities such as medication administration, care plan reviews and shift report writing.

About You:

  • As a senior support worker, you should have a level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care or be willing to work towards it.
  • You will be experienced in leading a team whilst supporting someone in a professional setting.
  • Aspens offer career progression alongside vocational qualifications, we encourage staff development and aim to promote from within the organisation where we can.
  • Being a driver is desirable but not essential.
