Aspens provides high quality care and support to people on the autism spectrum and with learning disabilities. Our volunteers play a vital role in helping us empower and enrich the lives of the people we support.

The friendly team at our Acorns day opportunities centre in Pembury, Tunbridge Wells, is seeking a passionate and confident person to assist in our employability sessions, teaching the adults we support at the centre valuable skills for employment. Ideally, we are looking for someone who is training to be a teacher, teaching assistant or learning support assistant, or someone who has previously worked in education; though this is not essential.

We are looking for a volunteer classroom assistant who can support with reading, writing and prompting. Core hours are Wednesday mornings from 9.30am-12.30pm. We also have sessions on Monday from 9.00am-12.30pm and 1.30-3.30pm. If you have availability outside these times, assistance with session planning and creating resources would be welcome.

  • Prompting with tasks and keeping our learners on track
  • Helping our learners with spelling and grammar
  • Asking open questions to help them think about the tasks being undertaken
