Winners announced for My AuSome Art Competition! The winners have been announced for our recent competition, My AuSome Art, which we ran to celebrate World Autism Awareness Week. A huge thanks to everyone who entered, we were so impressed by the creativity shown by all of the artists, who used an incredibly variety of mediums to express themselves. The entries were judged by Aspens' Chair of Trustees Gill Marcus and Trustee Peter Green, who admitted it was a tough job to select our winners. Gill Marcus said: “I was blown away by the quality of all the art works - from traditional drawing and painting through to pieces of performance art, songwriting and model painting. It was an agonising job trying to pick winners in each age category because every piece was a winner in its own right and I’m delighted that we have been able to recognise every single entrant in some way. Well done to absolutely everyone who took the time to submit something to the competition.” Here are our wonderful winning and highly commended entries, along with some comments from the artists. Enjoy! Over 18 years: Winners: Danny Jim Miranda Davis Robert Brannan “I love drawing and painting and specialise in pet portraits. The painting is my mum’s friends dog ‘Jordan’ which I painted in acrylics from a recent photograph. I painted this over a few weeks at an art club I attend weekly”. Sofia Highly commended: Sam Say 'Sunset Over Beachy Head Lighthouse' Sam is a diamond/crystal painting artist; his entry for this competition is a unique custom art crystal of a well known local landmark in Eastbourne. Sam has been creating these beautiful unique custom diamond paintings for around 4 years now. 12-18 years: Winner: Cameron Buchanan Highly Commended: Isabella Willett (makeup art) "Makeup has been my passion since I was 11 years old and this look is one of my favourites I have ever done. It is inspired by David Bowie's Ziggy Stardust. I wanted to pay tribute to him as an artist as he was a role model to many, including me, he preached about celebrating each other's differences and being true to who you are." Erin Bradford ('Just Me', song) 5-11 years: Winner: Emily Morley Highly commended: Katie Bradshaw Hannah Cross, 'Waterfall' "It is a waterfall and I think waterfalls are amazing.
