  • Roebuck Day Centre

Roebuck Day Centre

Aspen's Roebuck Centre in Hastings offers a variety of creative workshops for development and enjoyment. We also offer for sale the beautiful, unique pieces created here, which are on display to the public whenever we're open. Why not pop in to visit and see for yourself? You'll find us at Roebuck Street in Hastings (full address below).

About the workshops

A majority of individuals with high functioning autism and Asperger syndrome require some level of support. Without specialist support, further education and employment opportunities are likely to be out of reach for most of the individuals Aspens supports.

We focus on giving people the skills they need to lead to live their lives as independently as possible, including social and transferable skills, community skills, self-help, leisure and work skills. We also hold close links with local colleges and community projects, so that people who join our workshops at Roebucks can share their skills into their local community.

The activities people can come and enjoy at our friendly Roebuck centre include:

• Drama

• Music

• Jewellery making (Metallic Engineers)

• Crafts (Special Operations)

• Baking and cooking skills (Berks Emporium)

• Ceramics (Glazed Over)

• Asperger groups

• Social evenings

• Graphics & animation (Unique Perspectives)

bE – Berks Emporium

Started in 2013 making jams and chutneys. Now produces cakes and preserves for seven local businesses.

SO – Special Operations

A range of products designed, cut, measured and sewn in house. Utilising high quality fabrics and trimmings to create unique items.

GO – Glazed Over

A range of handmade ceramics and pottery utilising different techniques, sold in a variety of retail outlets in Hastings and Rye.

Me – Metallic engineers

Jewellery. Creating rings, bracelets, necklaces and charms from silver and other metals and set with semi-precious gemstones.

UP – Unique Perspectives

Graphics & Animation. Producing artworks, photography, animation and website design from our well-equipped computer graphics suite.

Cakes homemade at Roebuck

In Roebuck's kitchens, people who use our services work alongside professional chefs to bake an array of mouth-watering cakes, baked daily. Our delicious cakes are available to order - either call us or just pop into the centre - and we supply a number of local cafes with cakes. Ask for a slice of Roebuck cake at Trinity Wholefoods, Aroma Coffee Lounge, Coffee Box, the Stag pub and the Connections Cafe in Hastings, or the Old Town Tea Rooms in Bexhill.

As well as traybakes and birthday cakes we also sell vegan and gluten free cakes.
