The Care Quality Commission has today published its annual assessment of the state of health and social care in England. The report looks at the quality of care for the period 2020/21, the flexibility in responding to the pandemic and highlights the ongoing challenges for the sector.

Robbie Shanahan, Aspens’ CEO said:

"It’s great to see the CQC State of Health Care and Adult Social Care report acknowledge the many successes charities like Aspens have achieved over the last year during the most challenging of times.

Our staff have been incredible, but they remain under a massive strain with the challenges of recruitment and ongoing pressures caused by the Covid pandemic.

Whilst the investment is appreciated, it needs to be significantly higher, and we would like to see all Local Authority contracts delivering the real living wage for all social care staff to help address the challenges our sector continues to face."
