Celebrating International Women’s Day at Aspens As we mark International Women’s Day, our recently appointed Chief Operating Officer, Stevie Rice, reflects on the impact and leadership of women across Aspens, including the women we support and those who work alongside them. “I’m still quite new to Aspens, and joining with fresh eyes has given me a real appreciation for the people who make this organisation what it is. As International Women’s Day approaches, I’ve been struck by the compassion and dedication shown by the women across our charity. The work we do can be challenging, and the needs of the people we support are often complex. Yet what I’ve witnessed is a remarkable level of patience, persistence and a deep commitment to doing what’s right. Across services and in so many conversations, I’ve seen women advocate strongly, show up consistently and support the people we serve and one other. I’ve also been inspired by the women we support, women who navigate barriers, inequalities and daily challenges with strength, individuality and determination. Their voices, experiences and aspirations shape our work and remind us why creating inclusive, empowering environments matters so deeply. Alongside this, I’ve noticed the thoughtful, often unseen work that keeps people safe, connected and cared for - the follow-ups, the extra checks, the conversations that build trust. These moments may not always be visible publicly, but they are at the heart of the difference Aspens makes. I’ve been equally inspired by the strength of female leadership throughout the organisation. It’s a steady, values-driven approach that creates clarity, safety and space for others to grow. It shapes the culture we’re building together and sets a powerful example for future leaders. On International Women’s Day, I want to express my gratitude to the women of Aspens: the women who work here and the women we support. Thank you for the care you bring, the resilience you show and the impact you make every day. As someone still finding my feet here, I feel genuinely proud to be part of a team and community shaped so strongly by commitment and heart. And while today is a moment to celebrate women, it’s also a reminder of the inequalities that persist and the work still to be done. International Women’s Day gives us the opportunity to recognise those challenges and to honour the vital role women play across Aspens.” Make a difference today Manage Cookie Preferences Chat with us, powered by LiveChat
