Celebrating National Recognition for Aspens Team at NLDA Awards We’re delighted to share that Aspens has received recognition at this year’s National Learning Disability and Autism Awards, held on 6 July at the ICC in Birmingham. CEO Robbie Shanahan was presented with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising his decades of unwavering commitment to improving the lives of autistic people and those with learning disabilities and mental health needs. Robbie has worked across the charity sector, local government, private providers and the NHS, always guided by his belief that the right people, with the right values, can change lives. The Awards team praised his legacy of empathy, integrity and championing choice in both his personal and professional life. “I’m incredibly proud to lead Aspens and support its mission to create a world where every individual with a learning disability or on the autism spectrum is understood, respected and empowered to thrive,” said Robbie. “A heartfelt thank you to the person who nominated me.” We’re also incredibly proud that Chris Foster, Behaviour Support Specialist and Trainer, was a finalist in the Great Autism Practice Award (Individual) category. Chris’s work has had a profound impact on the people we support and our wider teams — creating a culture of empathy, knowledge-sharing and resilience. Chris’s nominees said: “Chris is an exceptional leader, mentor and advocate whose dedication to supporting people with learning disabilities and autism is both profound and inspiring. He not only leads with skill and experience, but with compassion, integrity and passion.” Chris said: “It meant so much and I was blown away to have been nominated by the team! I am so pleased that Aspens did come away with one award! Congratulations Robbie!” Congratulations to both Robbie and Chris and we thank them for everything they bring to Aspens and the communities we support.
