We're delighted to announce that BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing’s James Jordan, former Crystal Palace footballer Julian Speroni and performer and producer, David Fawcett, of Beyond the Barricade, will be joining us for our Charity Golf Day on Thursday 22 September.

James Jordan and Julian Speroni will be swapping their dancing shoes and football boots for golf clubs as they join guests at the Ridge Golf Course in Sutton Valence, near Maidstone. David Fawcett will be hosting the lunch and auction taking place after the morning of golf.

The Ridge Golf Course’s owners, Sophie and Jack Skinner, have generously donated the use of their course for the day, which will kick off with coffee and a bacon roll, followed by a round of 18 holes of golf. The golfers will then enjoy a relaxed two course lunch in the club house and a charity auction, where they will have the chance to bid for prizes including a signed England Team Rugby Ball.

The event is raising funds to support our work providing high quality support and care, we work towards our vision for an inclusive society where every individual on the autism spectrum and with learning disabilities can thrive as part of the local community.

Many of our services and resources rely entirely on voluntary income raised from fundraising activities such as this.

Amanda and her family have been supported by Aspens since she contacted the charity for support with her teenage daughter Keely, who is on the autism spectrum and was struggling with her mental health. Amanda describes how the support has transformed their family’s lives: “From the moment I first met with the Aspens team I could see there was a light at the end of the tunnel. I felt like I was not alone, at last someone ‘got it’ and wanted to help - more importantly they understood Keely. To see how Keely is blossoming and growing is something that we would never have believed. Without Aspens, our story would not have had the positive outcomes. The support has simply been amazing.”

CEO Robbie Shanahan said: “We are very excited about our Charity Golf Day and delighted that James Jordan, Julian Speroni and David Fawcett are so kindly supporting us. It promises to be a fantastic day and, most importantly, will be raising funds to help us continue our work providing much needed support and care to people on the autism spectrum and with learning disabilities and their families. The day is open to all – why not get a team of friends together and join us for the day?! As well as enjoying a fun day of golf and refreshments in great company, you’ll know you’re helping to transform the lives of people in your community.”

Local businesses from the community have also pledged their support and Fairdeal Windows Ltd are sponsoring the event, along with hole sponsors Navis Agere Ltd, Purpose Social Homes, Bates Wells, Ability and CIPHR.
