Outstanding! Our Children's Short Breaks Service Achieves the Highest Ofsted Rating We're delighted to announce that our Children’s Short Break and Overnight Service in Bexley has been awarded Outstanding by Ofsted. The inspection praised the “warm and welcoming environment” where children thrive, forming trusting relationships with staff built on respect and genuine care. This recognition highlights the exceptional support provided to children and families who rely on the service. Following a full inspection on 22–23 October 2025, Ofsted judged the service Outstanding across all areas: overall experiences and progress, help and protection, and leadership and management. Inspectors noted that children benefit from highly individualised care plans, a nurturing culture of genuine affection and staff who are finely attuned to each child’s preferred methods of communication and emotional needs. The report highlights that children benefit from highly personalised care plans and a wide range of enriching activities tailored to their interests, helping them achieve meaningful milestones and enjoy experiences they once found challenging. Families spoke passionately about the difference the service makes, with Ofsted noting:“Parents consistently commend the exceptional progress their children make during their short-break stays at the home. They praise the strong, nurturing relationships that staff build with the children and highlight the team’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that each child feels welcomed, cared for and genuinely enjoys their time at the home.” Safeguarding practice was described as “highly effective,” with comprehensive risk assessments and behaviour plans and strong multi‑agency working. Leadership was celebrated for its ambition, creativity and child-centred vision, inspiring a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
