Today is Social Care Day of Remembrance and Reflection, a day in which we pay tribute to the social care workforce for their dedication and the sacrifices they have made  throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The day is an opportunity to say a thank you to our wonderful team and their fellow social care workers who provided care and support during these tough times, to reflect on what everybody working together has achieved and to remember and pay tribute to those we have lost.

Skills for Care are holding a live online event from 10.30am-12.30pm today, in which Minister of Health and Social Care Gillian Keegan will be leading the tributes and thank you messages. The event will conclude with a poem dedicated to the social care workforce and a minute’s silence. There is also an online Memorial and Tribute Wall on the Care Workers’ Charity website, where you are invited to post your own message or tribute.  We will be creating our own Aspens’ tribute which we will publish on the National Day of Reflection on 23 March (next week).

Robbie Shanahan, Aspens’ CEO said: “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your incredible dedication, support and resilience over the enormously challenging past two years. I am so proud of our staff for going above and beyond to support the people we care for and keep them safe. I hope you will join me today for the minute’s silence at 12.30pm to reflect on the huge contribution our dedicated team, and the rest of the social care workforce around the world, has made over the past two years.”
