Learning Disability Week 2026: Do You See Me? This Learning Disability Week (15–21 June), Aspens is proud to support Mencap’s theme, “Do you see me?” It’s a powerful reminder that people with learning disabilities want to be recognised for who they are - their personalities, passions, talents and dreams - not defined by assumptions or stereotypes. Learning Disability Week is a moment to pause and reflect, but it’s also a celebration: of identity, of individuality and the many ways people with learning disabilities enrich our communities. At Aspens, being seen is at the heart of everything we do. To us, it means: Listening to people’s choices Understanding what matters to each person and respecting their voice. Valuing individuality Recognising strengths, interests and identities - and celebrating them. Supporting people to live the lives they choose Empowering people to feel confident, included and in control of their own journey. Every day, our teams work alongside the people we support to make sure they feel understood, respected and seen. What we’re doing this week Throughout Learning Disability Week, we’ll be shining a light on the people at the heart of Aspens. Across our social media channels - Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and TikTok - we’ll be sharing the voices of the people we support and hearing about the things they love doing. We’ll also be highlighting how our team empower people to feel seen, valued and confident. Alongside these stories, Aspens People’s Voice (a group of people we support) will be visiting Maidstone Hospital as part of an advisory group working with the NHS Learning Disability team. They’ll be helping shape and improve accessible information - a brilliant example of people with lived experience leading change and being recognised as experts. We’ll also be sharing an article about My Aspire - our workbook launched last year that supports people to set goals, track progress and celebrate achievements. My Aspire acts as a visual timeline of each person’s journey, highlighting every milestone and achievement. This week is all about visibility, pride and connection - and we’d love you to be part of it.
